Seminar on Visual Effects in Films by Pixion
Clusters College for Media & Design has conducted a seminar on ‘Career in Visual Effects‘on 15th May 2010 at The Residency Tower, Trivandrum, Kerala. The 3 hour seminar has been conducted by Mr. Purushothaman from Pixion and is open for all students
Purushothaman brings with him an experience of over a decade and had been with Prasad EFX before moving to Pixion a few months back. He has shared with the students the various work involved in the post production table of a movie. With the help of images and videos that showcase the scene before and after the visual effects have been done from movies that Pixion has worked on, he has explained how the VFX and Animation was done. Including work done for recently released Tamil film ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya‘.

Clusters College for Media & Design Sponsoring a Student of Sree Chitra Orphanage, Trivandrum for Visual Effects Course.
After the successful completion of its first year in Trivandrum, Clusters College for Media & Design is sharing its success with the Students of Sree Chitra Home Orphanage. We have identified that lot of creative students are there in the orphanage and has the dream of learning an Animation/VFX course. Due to their current situation they were not able to afford such courses. In this auspicious occasion we would like to sponsor a student of Sree Chitra Home orphanage for Animation/VFX course. Clusters will conduct a one day program at Sree Chitra Home which will comprise of a Talent Test & Competition. The winners of the competition (First Prize) will eligible to take up an Animation or VFX course at clusters which can cost up to 1 lakh. Second Prize winner will also be eligible for a 3 month course at clusters. This program is exclusively for Sree Chitra Home students.
Program will be inaugurated by Honorable Minister Sri. M. Vijayakumar (Law, Sports and youth affairs). Mr V. Sivankutty, MLA will give main Speech & Facilitation by Mr. V. Surendran Pillai, MLA on 8 November 2009 at Sree Chitra Home, Trivandrum.

Clusters College for Media & Design has tied up with Philippines based Holy Cow Animation Studio for a two month long internship program. Under this tie up, students of Clusters studying the ‘International Certificate in Digital art of animation’, an eleven month course, will be entitled to a two month internship at Holy Cow Animation facility in Philippines.

What do you think about the future of entertainment industry in India?
The world cinema and other entertainment industry components are looking forward to India for their Fine Finishing and Enhancement - requirements. Earlier, if cheap labour was the reason for turning to India, now it is shear competence in quality as well as delivery. Now the technology based facilities are available right in India. I think that India can switch its position from the supportive role to a developer's role. I mean that now India can come out with products which the world's entertainment market can rely as platforms and tools. India's future is very bright in this area.
How do you evaluate animation from the entertainment industry?
The entertainment industry is on a rapid expansion. All traditional entertainment media are in the process of enhancing the scope and quality of performance with the help of the very many tools and products of Multimedia.
What skills do you think are the most important for an aspiring animation professional to obtain?
The Indian industry and the Global industry are faced with acute shortage of adequately equipped resource persons. In the case of Multimedia and entertainment industry, the demand of creativity and originality are extremely important.
How do you think animation and Visual Effects hit the entertainment industry in this modern age?
India's position in the IT, Art and Economy is poised for an unprecedented increase in the near future. Moreover, India is one of the peace loving, reliable and sustainable friends of other countries.
